This version was ultimately canceled for the GameCube in favor of a Wii release. The game was released for the Wii in Japan on June 28, 2007. Donkey Kong Barrel Blast was released on October 8, 2007, in North America. The game is also very lowly-rated; Gamespot and IGN gave it a 4.5 each, and Gamepro even called it the worst game of 2007.
