From the introduction: YOU ARE THE GRAVELORDS The world is one of ash. The FUNERAL PYRES are little more than embers and the SOULS that kindle them are unable to find peace in the VOID BEYOND. The gods are errant, abandoned, dead, missing. In their place, the GEIST-WARDENS wander the wastes invading crypts, engorging on humanity’s Souls and leaving withered husks that cannot truly die, trapped in a misery of Unending Life.
