From the rulebook: This book provides a large number of items for the Game Master to use in the game. They could be bestowed upon the adventurers after a long and arduous quest from the king, they could be quested for as a goal in and of themselves, or they can be used against the adventurers and given as a reward for defeating the item’s previous wielder.
