The creatures presented in this book have not been balanced using any official method. The basis for them was to randomly generate all of the various statistics for a 5th edition creature, and see what we could come with. Some effort has been made to make each at least somewhat playable. The stories that Tarnix recorded in his field notes should probably be taken with a grain of salt, or even a pile of the stuff. Perhaps the most unreliable of narrators, his companions seem to have set the record straight on more than one occasion. That is not to say that you should not consider the creatures presented here as anything other than “real”. They were certainly real to Tarnix, and his companions obviously had many encounters over the years that defy explanation. So, have fun with these creatures, throw them at your players, and see what happens!
