Checkmate & Silver Fox

From publisher blurb: People around the world have become obsessed with news and gossip regarding superheroes and villains. Those individuals possessing dramatic, dangerous, or startling powers have gained celebrity status for either their supposed good deeds or their alleged crimes. The global media corporations do everything in their power to heighten the exploits of these super-powered beings (SPBs), knowing as they do how much money such coverage generates. In the public view, a hero remains a hero until they prove themselves otherwise. A villain, on the other hand, forever remains a villain. Most people believe supervillains are perpetually bad and never reform. The real world, as always, offers countless shades of good and evil, heroism and villainy. Some heroes commit dastardly deeds, while some villains pursue altruistic motives. Many SPB criminals end their illegal careers and choose to reform—especially after enduring a stint in prison or suffering life-threatening injuries due to their latest escapades.
