Quai is a mystery, even to most swampfolk. An enigmatic figure rife with contradiction, Quai is short in some tales, in others unusually tall. Some claim she is a young woman, while others speak of a handsome boy. Some even claim that Quai is no mortal, but a kind of quasi-god, a divine coalescence of the spirits of the swamps reborn through many incarnations to protect Klesdeep. Known as the hunter of the fantastic beasts of the swampland, Quai used to avoid the conflicts between the swampfolk and their dryland foes. But now new uprisings, each reportedly spurred on by the mysterious Quai, threaten the fragile peace. With cooler heads on both sides of the dispute not wanting Quai's mysterious meddling to shatter a hard-won peace, they have decided to send a group of adventurers to hasten a cessation of hostilities by confronting Quai.
