From the Introduction: A simple bridge of stone arches spans over this river. It is built from the same heavy stone blocks which fortify the river banks on either side. While the bridge itself is made up from these heavy blocks the road across it is plastered with much smaller cobble stones. Simple lanterns cast from iron illuminate the bridge, as the water rushes past below.
