beatmania IIDX 8th Style as an arcade game was released in 2002 but as a PlayStation 2 game was released in 2004. Unlike previous styles/games in the series, this one included little to no gameplay changes. But there was a new slate of songs, with 6 new hidden songs and 2 new extra songs. beatmania IIDX 8th Style for PS2 was a direct port of the arcade version, with three preview songs from IIDX RED, as well as new songs, and some revivals.
