From the description: BATTLESTREETS is a tabletop rpg that lives in the spirit of those old side-scrolling arcade fighting games-- where a few lowly yet fantastically talented fighters took their battle to the streets, saving their neighborhood and stopping the forces of evil. Welcome to The City-- a dystopian world-megapolis just sideways and slightly ahead of our own time, in the grip of Doom from villains of industry, crime, and selfish power. Players take the roles of young people touched by Destiny. It has "marked" them, empowering them to become champions. But the agents of Doom will not go quietly. You can win by telling stories of your characters overcoming threats, fulfilling their calling, and becoming true heroes! This a storytelling game where all the Players take the role of heroes fighting villains. Everyone builds the story of the Destiny and Doom that lay before them, contributing to the choice of objectives, the shape the map area, and the narration of fight scenes. This can happen with, or in lieu of, one Player taking the role of Destiny (or Gamemaster.) It's also a resource-spending game where Players roll some dice to see how effective their actions shape their world. This means sometimes choosing between spending "Power" or building it up in reserve for various effects. A successful game comes from embracing the collaborative and open-ended nature of the game setting. Characters are heroic-- young people discovering their power and making a new place in an old world. Fantastic powers are likely and even expected, so don't be afraid of narrative description.
