Det är en by som alltid har lyckats undgå krig, svält och olycka, fram tills nu ... Det är nådens år 1676, och snapphanarna plågar Ytterbys befolkning. Samtidigt drabbas traktens barnfamiljer av en tragedi: någon stjäl deras barn. Är det snapphanarna som ligger bakom även detta?
