Game review

Ezio’s adventures continue in Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. This is the second videogame in the Ezio trilogy, released in 2010 and developed by Ubisoft Montreal.

Ezio’s Story Continues in Italy, this time in Rome

Following the events of Assassin’s Creed II, Desmond Miles, Lucy Stillman, Rebeca Crane and Shaun Hastings escape from the templars who attacked their hideout. Their new hideout will be a setting that gamers will recognise immediately. The ruins of Villa Auditore in Monterrigione will host this second title’s modern setting.

In Ezio’s story, the game picks up from December 1499. He exits Rome with his Uncle Mario and returns to the family villa. The following day, Moteriggione is attacked by the Papal Army, commanded by Cesare Borgia. An injured Ezio escapes and travels to Rome, the centre of Templar power in Italy. Here he discovers that the Assassin Order has lost much power and strength. Determined to Restore the Guild, Ezio convinces Machiavelli that he can lead it. Recruit new assassins to join the Brotherhood and restore its former strength!

New Mechanics and Gameplay

This title is primarily set in Rome, the city has fallen under the Borgia influence and the templar. Similar to Monteriggioni in the previous title, the player is able to restore areas of the city, business and unlock rewards. Rome is one of the largest maps in Assassin’s creed and so a series of tunnels allows you to travel to different parts of the city. Similar to what later will be the travel mechanic from and to checkpoints.

New Combat Mechanics: The second game of Ezio Auditore action-adventure story has a modified combat system. Striking first and offensive actions have a deadlier advantage compared to Assassin’s Creed II. Ezio can now use melee and ranged weapons at the same time, including a hidden pistol.

New Gadgets: Ezio gets to master new gadgets and weapons such as Leonardo Da Vinci’s parachute, which can be used to jump from tall buildings. Poison darts, a crossbow and a hidden pistol. A series of Leonardo missions will also let the player drive some of the artist’s creations.

Recruit new Members: Assassin’s Creed Brother Hood introduces a new Guild system, which allows the player to recruit new assassin initiates after destroying any of the twelve Borgia Towers.

More Enemy Variety: New enemies such as horsemen, soldiers using arquebus and new papal guards.

First Assassin’s Creed with a Multiplayer Mod

Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood is the first video game of the AC saga that was published with a multiplayer mode. The players are templars in training at an Abstergo facility. They use multiple animus to access the memories of old templars and acquire their skills using the bleeding effect. Similar to the core single player game of the series, they are required to use their assassination and stealth skills. They must hunt down targets while being hunted themselves.

However, Brotherhood’s multiplayer is officially no longer available. Ubisoft lists its multiplayer/online features as discontinued, so players cannot play the original multiplayer today.

New And Recurrent Presence Of Historical Characters

As well as the recurring historical figures from Assassin’s Creed II, this new instalment also features new historical figures who will play a part in Ezio’s story. Juan Borgia the Elder, Cesare Borgia and Lucrezia Borgia are some of the new enemies the protagonist will face.

Leonardo da Vinci, Niccolò Machiavelli, and Caterina Sforza return as allies of the Assassin and provide Ezio with missions and objectives during his time in Rome.
