However, the mortal races - all created by the Xukzun trolls - came to chafe under this rule and took up arms against their makers. Mortals would have failed had it not been for the gods, individuals who used troll magicks to ascend to incredible and sometimes horrible power. While some worried that the gods might fill the power vacuum left by the trolls, this fear faded as the gods and mortals worked together to push the trolls back over the southern and northern mountains into the great cloud forests that fill the landscape beyond their impressive peaks.
