Game Info

Description

Set of miniatures wargame rules for fighting battles of the American Civil War circa 1862. From the cover: "Being a set of very playable recreational Wargame rules that will create, to some degree, the excitement and pageantry of Tactical Battles of the late War for Southern Independence" Assuming 25mm\28mm figures are used: Game scale: One inch = 22 yards One infantry figure = 25 men Twenty infantry figures equal a 500 men regiment Six figures and three gun models equal a 6-gun battery Reduced scale rulers are provided for playing with figures smaller than 25mm\28mm. Mounted cavalry is not covered in the rules (it's assumed that they have dismounted prior to the start of the game). Sequence of play: 1) Movement Phase: Brigades are moved in order of a draw from a deck of cards. Command rolls are made to determine which regiments in the brigade may move. A number of dice are then rolled to determine how far the regiments may move. 2) Firing Phase 1 - All stationary artillery fires and morale tests from casualties are resolved. 3) Firing Phase 2 - All stationary infantry fires and morale tests from casualties are resolved. 4) Firing Phase 3 - All "move and fire" artillery fires and morale tests from casualties are resolved. 5) Firing Phase 4 - All moving infantry fires and morale tests from casualties are resolved. 6) Combat Morale Phase - Test morale for charging and charged units. 7) Close Combat Phase - Fight all close combats and test morale. 8) Morale Adjustment Phase - Make all permanent morale adjustments due to various conditions. 9) Rally Phase - Attempt to rally all Routed units from the previous game turn. 10) Major Morale Phase - Determine each army's Major Morale state and act accordingly. The Order of Battle for Antietam is given at the end of the rules. No scenarios are included.
