From publisher blurb: Adventurers crave riches, treasures that may either be turned into gold coins or items that can aid them in their next adventure. Always on the hunt for undiscovered treasures, the ears of any adventurer will perk up when they overhear the promise of lost treasures. The twelve rumors described herein offer up a possibility at finding treasure . . . if the rumors are true. Each of the rumors that follow give the player characters just enough information to – if they act on the newfound knowledge – get the party into trouble. Many times, the rumors do not mention a specific treasure. Instead, the rumor is intended as an opportunity for the GM to introduce treasures of their choosing to the campaign. A vague “riches” is your invitation to select magic items, art objects, or other treasures from your favorite books. True or False? Since the release of the first entry in this series, I have offered both true and false options for every rumor. This was meant to give GMs the choice to decide which path to take with the rumors. After discussions with some of you, I now understand that you would like a system to determine which of the two to use in your campaign. One mechanism for choosing true/false: Whenever the adventurers overhear a rumor, ask that every PC secretly make a Wisdom check and pass the result to you on a scrap of paper. If more checks succeed than fail, the rumor is true. If the results are split equally, or more fail than succeed, the rumor is false.
