Description

Publisher Blurb: Jungles, or as they are more commonly known now, tropical rainforests, may be explored by characters looking for lost civilisations and other strangeness. This supplement contains 100 different encounters that can be used to flesh out a jungle expedition, adding background colour and potential adventure hooks. The encounters are influenced by media portrayals of jungles and some of the encounters are potentially hazardous whilst others are potentially useful. This PDF supports Adobe layers and the page backgrounds and images can be disabled to make printing easier. Here are some sample results: Hunting Party - A hunting party comprised of a dozen natives. The natives are a threatening sight, daubed in paint and each has at least one shrunken head dangling from their waist. Despite their appearance, the natives will be friendly if treated as such; the face paint is a blessing for success on a hunt and the shrunken heads belong to honoured ancestors. If attacked, the natives will respond in kind, fading into the jungle to attack with poisoned weapons (treat as Native/Tribal Human with weapons poisoned with Black Adder Venom from Poison in Appendix 1 of the Core Rulebook). Hut - The jungle opens up into a clearing in which only grass grows. In the clearing’s centre is a well-built hut made from trees and fronds. Dangling from the roof of the hut are many bones. There is a single entrance and, if the hut is entered, yet more bones can be found, including rows of skulls on the walls. The hut’s owner is not present. Insects - The air is filled with dense clouds of small insects. Although not individually dangerous, there are a lot of them and they will attempt to feed on any characters and their animals. The insects carry the risk of catching a disease (DC 12 Fortitude save to avoid catching Malaria). Journal - The leather-bound journal of a long-lost explorer. Much of the contents has been destroyed by the weather, but it is still possible to make out the former owner’s name and city inside the front cover. If the journal, and especially the owner’s remains, if they can be found, are returned to his family they will give a reward. Jaguar - The coughing roar of a large cat can be heard in the near distance. The sound causes all the other animals in the neighbourhood to fall silent in fear. One page is the front cover, one the front matter, one is mostly ads and one is the OGL. The supplement is also available in a system-neutral version, which is slightly shorter and lacks the Pathfinder stats. You do not need both versions.
