This Years Theme, "Independence!" This convention celebrates the 250th birthday of the United States by honoring the enduring idea of Independence—the freedom, courage, and self-determination that sparked the nation’s founding in 1776 and continue to shape its future. Independence reflects the bold thinking and innovative spirit that drive progress across generations.
The theme also incorporates fantasy and science fiction settings, genres where independence is often central to epic rebellions, visionary societies, and explorations of new worlds. By blending American history with imagined realms and futuristic possibilities, the convention invites attendees to explore Independence as a timeless and universal concept that transcends eras, genres, and realities.
Games that feature or creatively interpret this theme are eligible for the Special Convention Theme Award, recognizing exceptional storytelling, world-building, and gameplay that embody the spirit of Independence.
