Event Description

MidCon 2026 (or MidCon 47 ) FROM 9.00 AM*, Friday, November 6 TO 8.00 PM** November 8, at the Holiday Inn, Kenilworth. There is no requirement to stay in the hotel to attend the con. MidCon is (probably) the longest-running annual board games convention in the UK. The emphasis is on laissez-faire gaming, which is to say people turn up with some games, set them up on the table and wait for passers-by to join them, and/or they turn up and play other people&#39;s games. There will be a Bring &amp; Buy room, the legendary MidCon quiz and maybe one or two scheduled games (e.g. Blood on the Clocktower), but this is a bit of an old-school DIY con (no tournaments, no seminars, no podcasts, no official games library). There is no games library, largely because the convention [no pun intended] at MidCon has always been to ask another con attendee to borrow a game if you want to play it. The con typically gets 250+ attendees and we usually take over the whole hotel, so there aren&#39;t any &#34;muggles&#34; in the hotel (except possibly bewildered people coming to have Sunday lunch in the hotel restaurant), so the hotel will probably be happy for us to colonise the bar areas as well for gaming. Gaming normally goes on until about 2.00 AM (it is not compulsory); we&#39;re not as young as we used to be, so the days of starting a game of Slapshot at 3.30 AM are long gone.
