The Fallout TV show, now in its second season, has faithfully featured many of the iconic weapons from the videogame saga. Often as Easter eggs for longtime fans. The show blends post-apocalyptic aesthetics with the franchise’s signature dark humour, and sci-fi elements. Bringing the game’s  distinctive arsenal to life in a live action setting.

Fallout: From Video Game Saga to Successful Show

Amazon Prime’s adaptation of the Fallout Video Game saga into a TV series has set a new and high bar for future adaptations. After the release of its second season, Fallout has captured a broad global audience. This new season successfully expands its post-apocalyptic world, mentioning and portraying different titles from the video game saga.

Even though the Fallout TV series has proven to be a different story, it is receiving high praise for its storytelling and adaptation quality.

This success was never promised, as video game adaptations were synonymous with disappointment, misinterpretation, and a hard distortion of the original material. The Fallout series has shown that it understands  the tone and world-building  of the video game franchise. The TV series embraces the retro-futuristic aesthetic, post-apocalyptic world, and dark humour in the dialogue.

This success has triggered a knock-on effect for new and experienced players alike. Both curious users and those who had played these titles before have turned to the origin of the story to experience the video games.

Fallout’s Player Count Spike After the Amazon Series

The most visible consequence of the show’s success can be verified in the increase of gamers. That is, players have been returning en masse to newer titles and older games of the saga. The continuing accomplishment of the TV show has renewed the interest of both new gamers and old gamers of the Fallout saga.

Bethesda, the parent company of Fallout has already confirmed this wave of returning and new gamers. Almost five million gamers have logged in the games in just 24 hours, including the original Fallout, Fallout 3, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and Fallout: New Vegas.

While all games from the saga received new and returning gamers, Fallout 4 stands out as the game receiving most of these players. Steam Data Base (SteamDB) showed an increase in players for Fallout 4 and other titles from the video game saga. This shows a replayability caused by the expansion of its universe into TV production.

Some of the most remarkable data are shown in Fallout 4:

And inFallout New Vegas:

Where to find Fallout Weapons in the Video Games

Radium Rifle

In the TV show, Lucy is granted access to a weapons cache by Captain Rodriguez, which includes a radium rifle. She later carries the weapon in a duffel bag to the entrance of the New Vegas Strip, where she attacks and kills multiple ghoulified members of the Kings.

In Fallout games, a radium rifle is a pre-war carbine upgraded to fire irradiated rounds. Prior to an update, the radiation damage was handled separately from its base damage and therefore could not be enhanced. After the update, this is no longer the case.

Fallout 76

Prior to patch 40 (1.7.2.9), the radium riffle was classified as both an energy weapon, and a ballistic weapon. After patch 40, the energy keyword was removed, allowing the weapon to drop with the explosive legendary effect for the first time since patch 5.

To acquire the Radium rifle in Fallout 76, there are several ways:

  • Radium rifles  are occasionally available for purchase from NPC vendors, like the vendor bot at Pleasant Valley. The train statistician vendors may also stock them from time to time, depending on vendor inventory rotation or player level.
  • During the Mothman Equinox seasonal event, cultists enemies have a chance to spawn carrying Radium riffles. Farming these cultists can be a good way to acquire the weapon.
  • The most reliable way is to craft one yourself. Learn the Radium rifle plan, which can drop from high-leveñ enemies and events in dangerous regions of Appalachia. Once the plan is acquired, the players can craft this weapon at a weapon Workbench.

Fallout 4: Far Harbor DLC

In the Far Harbor DLC, radium rifles are commonly associated with the Children of Atom, particularly Zealots. These enemies are mostly encountered in and around the Nucleus, the faction’s  central stronghold. Farming Zealots in this area is a reliable  way to obtain multiple rifles. However, there are other locations where it can be acquired:

  • One guaranteed radium rifle can be found inside the cabin at Kawaketak Station, making it a dependable pickup for players who want the weapon without relying on random drops or vendor stock.
  • Other areas controlled by the Children of Atom are places where players can find it.  Exploring camps, buildings and defensive positions often reward careful players.
  • Occasionally, vendors across the island sell Radium Rifles. Availability varies by vendor inventory and player level.

Chinese Assault Riffle

In the Fallout TV show, we can see the Chinese Assault Rifle at the Caesar’s Legion camp. Caesar is wielding the rifle to reinforce his authority and militaristic presence. The weapons’s design and association underline the Legion’s brutal, disciplined image and their reliance on pre-War and repurposed technology.

In addition, legionaries stationed at Caesar’s Legion cam are also seen using Chinese Assault Rifles, suggesting it is a standard or favored firearm within certain ranks of the legion.

Fallout 3

In Fallout 3, Chinese Assaults Rifles were designed and manufactured by a Chinese industrial conglomerate for the People’s Liberation Army, during the Resource Wars. Thousands of these  weapons were smuggled into the US for use by Chinese operatives ans sympathisers on the East Coast. Maybe that’s why it can be found  in several locations and wielded by several characters:

  • Lucas Simms carries a Chinese assault rifle.
  • Three can be found in the Megaton armory.
  • Four Chinese assault rifles can be found near dead Talon Company  mercs in Metro Central.
  • The majority of Chinese Remnant soldiers in Mama Dolce’s carry one.
  • Three can be found  in the Citadel armory. To access the armoury, the citadel must be destroyed during Who Dares Wins.
  • Five care in the Mason District: three of them on a cart in the centre of the open plaza at the north end, and two on the second floor of a destroyed building to the southwest.
  • Sometimes, Paradise Falls Slavers can be seen carrying this weapon.
  • Three can be found in the Republic of Dave. Dave carries one, Bob carries another one, and the third one can be found in the Museum of Dave.
  • Two are sold at Flak’N Shrapnel’s, early in the game, that do not restock. However, at higher levels, they are stocked regularly.

Holy Hand Grenades (Holy Frag Grenades)

The Holy Hand grenade is a thrown weapon that appears in the TV show  as an easter egg rather than a fully lore-out weapon scene. Briefly shown in the second episode of the second season, where it can be seen sitting on a table inside the Area 51 warehouse scene, serving a clear nod to The Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Fallout 2

In fallout 2, this weapon can be acquired during a special encounter where five knights in power armour are fighting a rat. However, due to messy scripting, this encounter is not visitable in the game without installing fan patches or by using Ctrl-R and selecting  the map on the main menu screen.

The rat can only be killed by the chosen one and/or their companions by hitting it in the eyes. The Holy Hand Grenade is in the cave behind it.

T60 Pistol

In the Fallout TV series, the presence of this weapon is tied to Maximus, a character from the game saga that appears in Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel. Maximus uses this weapon to fight with The Ghoul, and  to try to take down the gulper.

Yet, another appearance is in “the Beginning”, used by the Brotherhood of Knights as they arrest Maximus to prepare him for his execution.

Fallout Shelter

In the Fallout saga, this weapon is a semi-automatic, high- powered sidearm chambered for 44 rounds. However, it lacks conventional iron sights, as it is designed for use with t-60 power armour and can be carried on either hip.

  • It can be found in lunch boxes, a resource of Fallout Shelter.
  • It can be found by Vault Dwellers while exploring the wasteland.

Alien Blaster

The Alien Blaster is a remarkable energy weapon that appears in the Fallout TV series, continuing its long standing role as one of the franchise’s most iconic and mysterious firearms. Its appearance in the show serves as both a lore nod for longtime fans and a reminder that Fallout blends science fiction, Cold War paranoia, and dark humour.

Fallout

In Fallout the alien blaster is a weapon of extremes. It has the highest damages per action point, as well as the second-highest ammunition capacity of any single shot weapon. The alien blaster can be fired for two action points with Fast Shot and the Bonus Rate of Fire perk.

  • Can be found in the Alien Ship special encounter.

Fallout: New Vegas

In New Vegas, the alien blaster is one of the most powerful weapons because a critical hit is guaranteed. IT will often be able to take down any enemy with a single hit to the head. Enemies killed by a critical hit are disintegrated into ash. It can be fired a total of 2.495 shots, 250 reloads.

  • The alien blaster is only available to characters that have the Wild Wasteland Trait. If this trait was not chosen during character creation, nor during “Ain’t That a kick in the Head” or “Sink Auto-Doc’s”, it will not be obtainable.

Fallout 2

In Fallout 2 is an extremely powerful weapon, but highly specialised. It boasts the highest damage per action point and top-tier accuracy among single-shot weapons. Even average critical hits still inflict very high damage, and perks can further reduce its action point cost.

  • It can be bought from Willy in a random encounter north of Mordoc if it is randomly selected by the game and the Chosen One then passes a Luck roll. With luck 10, the price is $10000.
  • Can be obtained in the Enclave Oil Ring trap room puzzle by repairing a random terminal and having speech 100% and tagged.
