Hidden content and Easter Eggs in Red Dead Redemption II
Bigfoot References in Red Dead Redemption II
Giant Skeleton
Location:

You’ll find a huge skeleton on the ground, bigger that a human one can be. This large skeleton is at the base of Mount Shann. Arthur will make a note of finding the skeleton in his journal and sketch the skeleton on the map where it is found.

The Cave Giant
Location:

In other to talk to Bigfoot, or what it is believed that is Bigfoot in Red Dead Redemption II, you’ll need:
- To study 30 different animals.
- Choose a sunny day. Do not go if it is raining or cloudy.
Go Northeast from Grizzlies East up to the North-Northeast limit of the game’s map. You’ll see a flock of birds flying North. These birds will indicate the direction you should follow. Go up the mountain and be careful jumping from section to section. All jumps must be perfectly directed and timed. Once you approach the cave you’ll begin to hear a deep voice coming from it. Listen to the conversation until the end. Once you finish the conversation, go away from the area and wait three days to come back. When you return you’ll hear his complains all over again.

The Girl In The Chained Outhouse
Location:

While helping Penelope Braithwaite escape from her family, you’ll find an outhouse in the Braithwaite Manor. Penelope then explains that Gertrude is her cousin. Gertrude Braithwaite was born to Catherine Braithwaite. She was disfigured and suffered from mental illness. That is why her family chose to confine her in an outhouse near the manor. The family believed that keeping her hidden was better than admitting her into a sanatorium.
Penelope then says that she will try to help her cousin once she reaches Boston. Though Arthur doubts her sincerity.

In the epilogue, if you return to the manor, you’ll find that the chained outhouse is still there. Her skeleton remains there, showing that she was never helped and died of starvation. Penelope never followed her promise to help her.
UFO Apparition in the sky
Location:

From Emerald Ranch, head north. Past Heartland Overflow, there is a tiny lake. Here you’ll find a house on one side of the lake. Inside this house you’ll find several dead bodies, but what triggers the UFO scene is on the table in the centre of the room. There is a note, take it and read it. This is apparently a sermon of a long gone cult. In it you’ll read “at the second hour under the half moon”.
Return to the cabin at 2:00 am on a night with a half moon. If you do it correctly, once inside the cabin, it will light up with a green light coming from above. If you go out of the house, you’ll be able to see it in the sky.

The Manzanita Post Cult
Location:

In the Manzanita Post settlement, you’ll find one isolated cabin occupied by ordinary people. However, a closer inspection of their home will reveal to you something darker. Look for a loose floorboard. Arthur will find a photograph of a man and a child. On its back side is written the norwegian word “uren”, which means “impure” or “unclean”. This discovery will not bother the people inside the cabin.
If you inspect the chimney you’ll find a page from a Norwegian journal. This finding will disturb the people inside the cabin, who will exit in panic and shouting. The page you find includes a confession written by a woman. A guilt that robs her of her sleep with constant visions of screaming faces. She begs god for mercy, implying that the community committed some terrible act under the guidance of “the father”.

If you loot the husband’s body you’ll find a newspaper clipping. An article that tells the murder of a family. A North African man, a woman from a secluded religious settlement and their infant child. Now it becomes obvious that the word “uren” is used as a racist slur.
The King Of The Forest
Location:

Red Dead Redemption II is full of surprises, Easter eggs and bizarre encounters. The king of the forest is one of them. You’ll find him Northeast from Annesburg and Northeast from Marco Dragic’s laboratory at Doverhill. Near the upper limit of the game’s map living inside a huge hollow tree stump.

Poor Joe is a hermit, self-proclaimed king. You’ll encounter him twice in 1899. First he will tell you to go away, and in the second encounter he will tell you that he is happy to be a king. You will encounter him a third time in 1907 and will ask you to choose between friend or foe:
- Friend: he will “allow” you to pay homage to the king (himself).
- Foe: He tells you to leave his kingdom and will hide inside of the tree out of fear.
The Ghost in the Swamp
Location:

Ride to Bluewater Marsh where the ghost of Agnes Dowd can be seen 9pm and 3am during a foggy night. Be careful because she will disappear if you get too close to her. You can encounter the ghost 16 times and each encounter will reveal her live events in random order.
Agnes Dowd fell in love with a man her parents disapproved of. The two lovers meet in secret beneath a tree in Bluewater Marsh. Then Agnes became pregnant with his child and the man left with another woman, exposing their affair and disgracing her family. Although Agnes later convinced him to return there, her father ended up shooting him in front of her. Following this event, Agnes murdered her father in revenge, And possibly the rest of her family, before hanging herself from the same tree she used to meet her lover at.

During the last encounter, the ghost of Agnes will address the player directly. She will tell you that she knows you’ve been watching her, and will invite you to come to the tree where she took her own life.
The woman in the Barrel
Location:

At the foot of Donner falls in Ambarino you’ll find a shattered barrel with the remains of Desirée LaFlamme. She died attempting to ride over the falls inside the barrel. Before encountering her, you can find her stunt advertised on a poster at Emerald Station. Promoted as the “queen of the rapids”.

This reference is inspired by Annie Edson Taylor. The first person to survive going over Niagara Falls inside a barrel. She survived the stunt with only minor injuries.

The Failed Flying Machine
Location:

In Red Dead Redemption II, the Flying machine is hidden in Cholla Springs, in New Austin. It is also an Easter egg from the and is included as one of the collectible landmarks.
You’ll find it if you head south from the SandP marked on the Cholla Spings map. The wreckage of the Flying Machine is located a little over halfway between those map letters and the nearby path.
