The end of 2025 is here, and we’d like to send you off into a new year full of fun, games, and good vibes. Because grinding gamers together is what we do best, we had the idea of sharing some home made game that will turn your New Year’s Eve into a game night一one everybody can participate in, regardless of age and gaming experience.

Turn New Year’s Eve Into a Game Night to Remember

Celebrating the  arrival of the new year is a very special occasion to share with family and/or friends. The perfect setting to play some light Board Games一both before dinner and also after midnight.

Board Game Recommendation for New Year’s Eve

Board Games have their place on New Year’s Eve, bringing friends and family together before and after the main event of the night, whether it’s a countdown or the twelve grapes. On this special occasion, light board games with simple mechanics and rules, as well as party games, tend to be the most popular.

Another reason these games are so popular at this time of the year is their playtime and duration. They are usually short games, allowing the players to alternate with other board games and enabling players to rotate so everyone present can join the fun.

Here are some perfect board games for New Year’s Eve:

UNO

The easy-to-learn card game UNO is a perfect choice for New Year’s Eve. Its simple rules make it an accessible and competitive game for everyone, regardless of age.

Regarding the number of players, a common rule is to combine two decks of UNO cards to increase the player limit, allowing more friends and family to join the fun.

Bang!

This Wild West immerses players in a world of secret roles, each with a different objective to win the game. Bang! is a fun board and card game for up to seven players, where secrecy is a key game mechanic. It’s both entertaining and competitive, making it a great choice for New Year’s Eve.

Dixit

A light, social game that encourages creativity, storytelling and laughterr—exactly the kind of fun you want when celebrating with friends and family. Everyone can join in regardless of age and experience, due to its simple rules. The game also works well for larger groups and allows for flexible playtime, so it fits neatly around other activities like countdowns, toasts, or party games.

Cards Against Humanity

What better than a game with no player limit? Cards Against Humanity is a fun party game about completing sentences and winning by making others laugh. Its simple rules make it easy for new players to jump in at any time, which is perfect for a busy New Year’s Eve. With fast rounds and endlessly surprising combinations. It keeps the energy high and the party going.

Exploding Kittens

Another fast-paced and easy-to-learn card game that thrives on tension and lots of laughter. With simple rules and fast turns, this game makes it easy to play multiple rounds, or even squeeze in a game before midnight.

Homemade Board Games for  New Year’s Eve

To create this list of homemade games to play on New Year’s Eve, we took inspiration from  what has shaped board games throughout their history: culture. With just a few simple materials, you can turn the evening into a festive game night that everyone can enjoy.

Good Luck Charm🔖

Taking inspiration from the German Glücksschwein (literally “lucky pig”) and the Japanese Omamori fabric-covered amulets that are believed to offer protection or bring good fortune.  We’ve turned the idea of New Year’s luck charms into a fun game for everyone. All you need is an amulet一it can be anything, from a dice to a thimble. Wrap it in paper and place it in a bowl.

Once everyone has added their chosen charms, take turns  picking one from the bowl, with your eyes closed, of course. The charm you select will be your lucky charm for the upcoming year, bringing a playful twist to the tradition while letting everyone join in on the fun.

New Year Predictions🕯️

For this game, we’ve taken inspiration from several cultural traditions used to predict the future on New Year’s Eve. One of them being the German tradition of Bleigieβen. Traditionally, tin or wax (originally lead) is melted on a spoon over a candle and then poured into cold water to reveal a person’s future.  However, for this game, we have chosen a much simpler mechanic.

This game is simple, yet it is the longest one we suggest. All you need is a notebook and a pen一or a phone if you prefer. Write down the names of all the “players”, your family and friends at the table, and ask each of them for a prediction for the coming year. Write down their predictions next to their names, and write below the list: “Read at the end of 2026”.

These predictions cannot be changed once they’re written, and they’ll be read on next year’s New Year’s Eve. It’s a fun way to see how your past self一and your friends一thought the year would go, and to reflect on surprises and successes when the time comes.

12 Grapes, 12 Wishes🍇

If you are eating twelve grapes at the end of the year, we have a game to accompany this Spanish tradition. The custom is sometimes paired with the superstition of eating them under the table to find love in the coming year.

Our twist  is simple: make a wish with each grape you eat. Think of a goal, a hope, or a dream you want  to come true in 2026. Twelve grapes, twelve wishes一or twelve reasons to believe that the new year will be happy, full of opportunities, and full of joy.

A playful start to 2026: More Than Just a Countdown

We say goodbye  to a year in which we launched our Event Management Tool, an easy-to-use and user-friendly platform for organising gamers’ events. It has also been a year  in which we celebrated our very first event for gamers.

And one wish for the year ahead, for you: that you find players to share the games you love so much. We hope to see you at future events and share the great experience of playing together.

Because bringing gamers together is what we do best.

Game On!🥂
