Wake Island first appeared in Battlefield 1942<\/a>, published in 2002. The introduction of a virtual island that forces aggressive frontline engagements. Over the decades, Wake island went under several reinventions and adaptations. It appeared in Battlefield Vietnam<\/a>\u00a0in a World War II mod. In Battlefield 2<\/a>, the island also appeared\u00a0with enhanced fidelity and refined vehicle combat. Wake island also transformed into a high-intensity combat spot and arcade-style map in Battlefield 1943<\/a>. In Battlefield 3<\/a>\u2019s \u201cBack to Karkland\u201d expansion it reappeared with enhanced destruction physics. Its last appearance was in Battlefield V<\/a> which pushed its visual fidelity and environmental storytelling to the limit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For Battlefield 6,<\/a> developer Victor Guillermo has stated that they initially wanted to work on a similar design to what appeared in Battlefield V. However, traveling was too long for players and some sector objectives too demanding. Therefore, the team decided on a two objective limit per sector.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lets take a look at the new Wake Island, sector by sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the north west part of the island sits the key NATO surveillance station. Located around a large tower with an underground facility built on a hill, where the objective is typically located. Multiple routes and supporting buildings give players plenty of opportunities to flank enemies, capture positions and contest objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Three adjoining buildings that offer excellent sniper positions to take out\u00a0pursuing enemy infantry, or piles of rubble that can be used as cover. This section also marks the beginning of Wake Island\u2019s underground tunnel network. Between the Ammunition Depot and the Hangar, Between the Ammunition Depot and the Fuel Storage, and between the fuel Storage and the Docks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A newly added point of interest. The Wreckage of an Egyptian cargo ship that became stranded while on a supply mission to the island base. From here, there is only one route leading from the Hangar sector.\u00a0Developers stated that this new scenario created plenty of exciting gameplay during the play tests.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n The hangar is the focal point of Wake Island and its most prized asset for teams throughout two decades of combat. The hangar has a vast interior space where armoured vehicles can force their way through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Six storage buildings were placed in this section to support NATO military aircraft stationed at the base. They provide excellent cover for close-quarters\u00a0engagements across different elevations. The centre of the section is a potentially dangerous area. Developers also published that they placed several destroyed bunkers in this area, along with elevated terrain to provide cover. The tunnel connecting to the hangar section can also accommodate larger vehicles.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n This is an expansive semi-indoor and outdoor combat zone. Two oil soils form the lifeblood of the island\u2019s airbase, supplying its aircraft as well as allied planes passing through the area. The terrain offers infantry plenty of opportunities for multi-level engagements. In most game modes, the objective sits at the heart of the complex, encouraging squads to close the distance and fight for control. <\/p>\n\n\n\n This sector is home to the island\u2019s main port facilities and serves as the processing hub for any cargo that does not arrive by air. A handful of buildings and structures surround the docks. In several game modes the capture zones at the docks extend into the water. This gives the boats the chance to capture and contest objectives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n To add even more hype to the update, three iconic characters from Top Gun: Maverick are also joining Battlefield 6,<\/a> bringing the franchise\u2019s high speed aerial action straight to the game. Even better, all three are voiced by the original actors who portrayed them-\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\nEvery sector in Wake Island <\/h2>\n\n\n\n
