As previously said, this is not a feature created by the developer, but it is widely recognised within the pok\u00e9mon community, specially among the more experienced gamers. All Pok\u00e9mon nuzlocke challenge follow three basic rules:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Any Pok\u00e9mon that faints must be released or boxed permanently. It is considered dead and unavailable for the rest of the challenge.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Only the first wild pok\u00e9mon encountered in a route or area can be caught. If the player fails to catch that Pok\u00e9mon, they won’t be able to catch another Pok\u00e9mon in that area.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. The player must nickname all the Pok\u00e9mon they catch or obtain. This is a universally accepted rule.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    In addition, there are also some basic guidelines applicable to the main three rules in a Pok\u00e9mon Nuzlocke. such as a \u201cDuplicate Clause\u201d that permits the player to skip the first pok\u00e9mon they see in an area, if they already own that same pok\u00e9mon. Players can continue battling until they encounter one they do not already own, and attempt to catch it.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    There is also the \u201cshiny Clause\u201d, meaning that if the player encounters a shiny wild Pok\u00e9mon, they may catch it. Even if a wild Pok\u00e9mon has already been\u00a0encountered in the same area.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
